HC Deb 03 December 1984 vol 69 c22W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science on what date and at what time he informed the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals about his proposed changes in student funding.

Mr. Brooke

The Government do not inform outside organisations of their decisions before they are announced to Parliament.

Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what prior consultation he had with the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals on his proposed changes in student funding.

Mr. Brooke

The Government do not consult on matters concerning the public expenditure survey. They do, however, consult a number of interested organisations, including the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals, on possible changes to the awards regulations and have done so this year as in previous years.
