HC Deb 03 December 1984 vol 69 cc65-6W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if he will list each borough, district council and new town still in receipt of housing subsidy to their housing revenue account; and if he will list the average rent for those authorities and indicate which of those authorities fall within the current criteria for high rent status;

(2) if he will list and rank the latest information on the average rent for each housing authority and new town in England and Wales.

Sir George Young

Information on the average rents of local authorities and new towns is included in the chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy publication Housing Rents Statistics at April 1983". Statistics for April 1984 will, I understand, be published by CIPFA before the end of the month.

A list of authorities which have claimed an entitlement to main housing subsidy is attached. Those whose reported rents are above the qualifying threshold for high rent status are indicated.
