HC Deb 03 December 1984 vol 69 c78W
Mr. Pawsey

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how much is to be spent in cash terms and real terms on the National Health Service in 1984; and how that compares with 1979.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

NHS expenditure in Great Britain will have increased from £7.7 billion in 1978–79 to £16.6 billion in 1984–85; an estimated increase of 21 per cent. over general inflation. These figures demonstrate the Government's commitment to the NHS.
