HC Deb 03 December 1984 vol 69 cc42-3W
Mr. Kennedy

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether all parts of Scotland covered by the Highlands and Islands Development Board will, following the implementation of the new regional aid proposals on assisted areas, continue to enjoy access to the European regional development fund.

Mr. Maclennan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has assurances from the European Commission that, notwithstanding the changes in the map of assisted areas in Scotland, the whole area within which the Highlands and Islands Development Board has responsibility for development will continue to be eligible for European regional development fund aid.

Mr. Allan Stewart

Yes. It is the board's scheme of assistance which gives the areas covered by it access to the European regional development fund; the scheme is not affected by changes in the new regional aid map on assisted areas.
