§ Mr. Corbynasked the Secretary of State for the Environment on how many occasions his Department has sought information from the Greater London council 63W regarding the abolition of the council; and how many times such requests for information have been met with refusal since Royal Assent of the Local Government (Interim Provisions) Act 1984.
§ Sir George YoungWe have sought information, under section 5 of the Act, on staffing matters and 1985–86 expenditure. On countless occasions, the Department has sought information about specific applications for consent under sections 7 to 9 where the data supplied by the GLC have been inadequate. In one case we have declined to take any further action towards reaching a decision on whether a consent could be given because, despite repeated requests, sufficient supporting information has not been provided.
