HC Deb 03 December 1984 vol 69 c16W
Mr. Canavan

asked the Solicitor-General for Scotland how many people have been charged as a result of incidents arising from the miners' strike.

The Solicitor-General for Scotland

In the period between 14 March and 16 September 1984, 1,342 persons were arrested and charged with offences arising from the mining dispute.

Mr. Soley

asked the Solicitor-General for Scotland what has been the number of written complaints about police conduct during the mining dispute received in each police force area; and what has been the general nature of these complaints.

The Solicitor-General for Scotland

Inquiry with procurators fiscal and through them with the chief constables of those forces which have had to deal with incidents arising out of the present mining dispute indicate that 13 written complaints about police conduct have been received. The complaints either relate to police tactics in general or involve allegations about the conduct of individual police officers.
