HC Deb 03 December 1984 vol 69 cc28-9W
Mr. Mudd

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what reports have been made to officials of his Department about incidents of animal deaths in Mawnan Smith, Falmouth, Cornwall; if he will identify the number and types of animal involved; if he will indicate the nature of the presumed cause of death; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Fenner

A number of reports have been received by the Ministry's technical staff in the past year in relation to incidents of animal illness and death in the Mawnan Smith area. Some owners have reported deaths and illness in a number of dogs and cats. Tissue samples have been taken and carcase material examined but except for one case of a dog having died from organophosphorus poisoning the results have been either inconclusive or negative.
