Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list in the Official Report the circulars which have been issued by his Department over the past 20 years to local education authorities in Wales dealing with the teaching of the Welsh language, or the provision of education through the medium of the Welsh language.

Responsibility under the Education Act for all schools in Wales was transferred to the Secretary of State for Wales in November 1970; responsibility for most aspects of higher and further education in the Principality was assumed in April 1978. Circulars issued since 1970 which refer in the title to Welsh or the Welsh language are as follows:
