§ Mr. Evennettasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he has any plans to reform the system of financing universities in England and Wales.
§ Mr. BrookeMy right hon. Friend expects to receive in the summer advice from the University Grants Committee on the development of a strategy for higher education into the 1990s which is likely to cover the arrangements for the financing of the universities. He will consider that advice with a view to bringing forward by about the turn of the year proposals for the future development of higher education which will include any proposals he may have concerning the arrangements for the financing of the universities.
