HC Deb 01 August 1984 vol 65 c269W
Mr. Spearing

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what reports or records he possesses of recent incidence of child malnutrition in St. Helena.

Mr. Whitney

We have no evidence of child malnutrition in St. Helena.

Mr. Spearing

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will estimate the total annual income received by residents of St. Helena from relatives or friends at work in the United Kingdom; and what trend there has been in these amounts in the last five years.

Mr. Whitney

In the absence of exchange control regulations, there is insufficient information available to make such an estimate or to assess any trend.

Mr. Spearing

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will tabulate in the Official Report the number of ordinary and advanced level passes and the number of City and Guilds certificates awarded, respectively, to pupils resident in St. Helena for each of the years 1979 to 1983.

Mr. Whitney

The information is as follows:

O-level passes A-level passes City and Guilds passes
1979 62 0 0
1980 92 0 1
1981 75 2 0
1982 43 6 0
1983 60 2 0
