HC Deb 01 August 1984 vol 65 c386W
Mr. Hume

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the storage of radioactive material on land in the United Kingdom indicating the amounts held in such storage in each of the last five years, the amount presently held, the locations of such storage, the types of material concerned and their radioactivity content.

Mr. Waldegrave

A detailed inventory of radioactive wastes stored on nuclear sites has now been published by the Radioactive Waste Management Advisory Committee (RWMAC) in its fifth annual report. Copies are available in the Library of the House. The information will be reviewed and up dated in future annual reports.

Radioactive materials are also held on other sites. The total amounts of radioactive material stored on each of these sites in each of the last five years is not readily available and would cost a disproportionate amount to ascertain.
