HC Deb 01 August 1984 vol 65 c324W
Mr. Eldon Griffiths

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he expects to give effect to the agreement reached by the police negotiating board in early 1983 in respect of benefits payable to police officers permanently disabled by injuries sustained on duty, and to the widows of those officers who are killed on duty; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Brittan

This agreement is being given effect administratively by sanctioning payments by police authorities in anticipation of regulations. So far this has been done in 15 cases, involving two former officers and 13 widows. Regulations will be made shortly.
