§ Mr. Spearingasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he was consulted by the London Docklands Development Corporation concerning its recent proposals for compulsory purchase orders; on what date such applications were authorised by a meeting of the corporation; and when, and by what means, these proposals were made public.
§ Sir George YoungMy right hon. Friend has not been consulted about the corporation's proposed order; I understand that the decision to make the order was taken at a meeting held on 18 July; the corporation issued a press statement on 20 July announcing its decision.
§ Mr. Spearingasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the total number of acres of land which the London Docklands Development Corporation is seeking to purchase by compulsory order currently in the ownership of private owners: the Port of London Authority, the North Thames gas board, the Thames water authority, Newham borough council and other public bodies, respectively.
§ Sir George YoungOnly one compulsory purchase order, which relates to 0.07 hectares of land in private ownership, has been submitted to my right hon. Friend. I have no information on the details of what might be contained in any other order which might be so submitted.
