HC Deb 01 August 1984 vol 65 c395W
Mr. Best

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) what are the criteria for payment of a law enforcement allowance;

(2) why a law enforcement allowance is not paid to officers of Her Majesty's Customs and Excise;

(3) why a law enforcement allowance is paid to immigration officers;

(4) how many officers of Her Majesty's Customs and Excise would be eligible to receive a law enforcement allowance if it were subject to the same criteria as eligibility for immigration officers.

Mr. Hayhoe

There is no law enforcement allowance in issue to immigration officers. Indeed, there is no such allowance. It cannot, therefore, be extended to officers in Her Majesty's Customs and Excise.
