Mr. Ron Davies

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if his proposed revised memorandum of guidance to the police on the administration of the Firearms Act 1968 will require reference to him by certificate holders for the purchase, acquisition or possession of dum-dum ammunition.

It is too early to say; work on revising the memorandum is still in progress.

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the difference between the ammunition as specified for use in rifles under the Deer Act 1963 and dum-dum ammunition.

There is no difference, if by "dum-dum" ammunition is meant soft-nosed or hollow-nosed bullets which expand on impact.
