HL Deb 01 August 1984 vol 455 c871WA
Viscount Ingleby

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What efforts are being made to inform employers and disabled applicants of the availability of grants for adaptations of premises and aids to employment, and of the job introduction scheme.

The Earl of Gowrie

In 1983 the Manpower Services Commission established the new Disablement Advisory Service, which operates throughout the country. A major responsibility of this service is to ensure that employers are aware of the special schemes to assist the employment of disabled people, including those mentioned by the noble Viscount.

The staff of Jobcentres will tell disabled people about the schemes that might help them, and a range of promotional leaflets about the schemes is distributed widely for use by disabled people and their advisers.
