I understand that as part of British Shipbuilders plans to restructure its training requirements, it proposes to offer the Birkenhead training centre to Cammell Laird, in the same way as other training centres will be offered to adjacent BS subsidiaries.
However, the corporation is consulting the trade unions and a final decision on the reorganisation of its training structure will not be taken until after these negotiations are completed.
