§ Mr. Skinnerasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many contractors already licensed by the Health and Safety Executive to carry out asbestos stripping from 1 August have previous convictions for asbestos-related offences.
§ Mr. GummerOut of 805 contractors already licensed to strip asbestos, five had convictions for asbestos related offences within the last 12 months and a further 14 for such offences within the preceding four years. Each of these 19 licences is issued for one year and requires that the licensee notify the enforcing authority before work commences.
