§ Mr.Alan ClarkClerks at unemployment benefit offices identify claimants entitled to milk tokens from a form issued by the Department of Health and Social Security. Claimants' identity details and the number of tokens to be issued are recorded on a schedule. The tokens are then dated and handed to claimants. Each day, clerks obtain stocks of milk tokens from a nominated officer and reconcile issues against the balance remaining. A check of issues is carried out periodically by executive staff.
