asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he is now able to announce the plans for amending the building regulations to provide means of access and facilities for disabled people in buildings open to the public; and if he will make a statement.

My hon. Friend, the Minister for Housing and Construction intends shortly to lay before the House an amendment to the Building Regulations requiring the provision of access and facilities for disabled people in new public buildings. A statement will be made at that time.
