§ Mr. Buchanan-SmithDr. Musgrove consulted officials in my Department about the United Kingdom wind energy programme when he was preparing this assessment for the Commission. A paper based on the economics section of the document was presented by Dr. Musgrove at the joint conference of the British and European wind energy associations held at Reading university in March 1983. Following that conference, at the request of my Department's Chief Scientist, a detailed study of that paper was undertaken by our energy technology division and we have taken note of Dr. Musgrove's findings where these are relevant to the Department's wind energy programme.
