asked the Secretary of State for Transport whether the decision as to which bid for Sealink (UK) Ltd. should be accepted will be made by himself or the British Railways Board.

Mr. Ridley

The British Railways Board is in the lead in selling Sealink (UK) Ltd. and will make a recommendation about the prospective purchaser. but my consent to the sale will be required under section 1 of the Transport Act 1981.
