§ Mr. WaldegraveThe reduction in rate support grant in England between 1978–79 and 1984–85 accumulated over the six years is estimated at £8.9 billion, at 1984–85 prices (based on movements in the GDP deflator). It is estimated that, in 1984–85, in the United Kingdom 1p on the standard rate of income tax will raise £1 billion.
