HC Deb 25 April 1984 vol 58 c565W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his estimate of the number of families in Greater Manchester which include a mentally handicapped person; if he is satisfied with the facilities available to them; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

This information is not available to the Government.

It is for the health and local authorities concerned to estimate the numbers of people in need of mental handicap services in their area and to provide services accordingly, taking account of national policies and priorities and local circumstances.
