asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will arrange for Cardiff to be signposted throughout the entire length of the M4 westbound between London and Cardiff; and if he will make a statement.

There is a limit to the amount of information each sign can usefully display to drivers especially at long distances from their ultimate destination. Motorway and primary route signing is carefully structured to guide drivers at different stages of their journeys. Drivers using the M4 from London are guided at successive stages to the west, south Wales and Cardiff. There are no reasons to change present practice.
