asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will indicate the number of vacancies registered and filled in each of the jobcentres in the Southend travel-to-work area in 1980, 1981, 1982 and 1983.

Mr. Peter Morrison

There is likely to have been a substantial number of vacancies other than those notified to Jobcentres. Nationally it is estimated that about one third of all vacancies are notified to Jobcentres.

Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for Employment, pursuant to his reply of 17 February, Official Report, columns 339–40, if he will give a breakdown of those registered unemployed by sex, age and duration of employment in the following jobcentre areas: Bermondsey, Borough, Brixton, Camberwell, Deptford, Greenwich, Lewisham, Stockwell, Streatham and West Norwood.

Mr. Alan Clark

I shall reply to the hon. Member as soon as possible.
