§ Mr. Fallonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what percentages of the employed population in Scotland are accounted for by agriculture, fishing, forestry, coal and steel, respectively; and what are the corresponding percentages for those other standard regions of the European Community where all five activities are to be found.
§ Mr. Allan Stewart[pursuant to his reply, 10 April 1984, c. 177]: Estimates for Scotland are available in the detail requested by the hon. Member, but the information would not be consistent with the estimates available for the other standard regions of the European Community. For purposes of comparison the following table has been prepared showing the estimates for 1981 of (1) persons with a main occupation in agriculture, forestry and fishing (2) employees in the industry "Extraction and briquetting of solid fuels and coke ovens" and (3) employees in the industry "Production and preliminary processing of metals" expressed as percentages of the total number of persons with a main occupation.
