§ Mr. Irvingasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will estimate the total additional cost to his Department of the House sitting (a) from 10.30 pm to midnight and (b) from midnight to 2 am, or for other such period for which figures are conveniently available.
§ Sir George YoungStaff are normally employed until 11 pm. The additional labour cost incurred between 11 pm and midnight is £753 and between midnight and 2 am a further £60. Figures for the additional cost of heating and lighting are not available, but it is estimated that they are likely to be about £330 for the period 11 pm to midnight and £260 from midnight until 2 am.
