HC Deb 25 April 1984 vol 58 cc503-4W
Sir Geoffrey Finsberg

asked the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State answering in respect of the Arts how many letters which have been with the Office of Arts and Libraries as at 10 April for four, six, eight, 10 and over 12 weeks, respectively, and which were from Members of Parliament remain without substantive replies from the office.

Mr. Waldegrave

Of the very large number of letters received by the Office of Arts and Libraries from Members of Parliament the following remained without substantive replies as at 10 April; over four weeks (2), six weeks (1), eight weeks (2), 10 weeks (3), and for over 12 weeks (7). All but two letters were about arts funding following local government reorganisation, on which my noble Friend made an announcement on 11 April. He is writing to all the Members concerned in the light of this.
