The Prime Minister

Departments keep records of correspondence with companies as is operationally necessary. In some cases separate files are kept for each company concerned; in other cases files are compiled on a different basis. It would he disproportionately costly to provide details of the filing systems used in each division of each Department. The retention of papers is governed by the Public Records Act 1958 and 1967.
