§ Mr. Wyn RobertsThere are currently 13 hospitals for people with mental handicap in Wales and these are supplemented by seven units within acute hospitals. Information on the numbers of people using these establishments is given below and refers to 1982.

§ Mr. Barry Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Wales how many new hospitals for mentally handicapped people are at the development stage; what size they will be; and what is the current estimate of their total cost in each case.
§ Mr. Wyn RobertsThe all-Wales strategy for the development of services for mentally handicapped people is being undertaken in each county through 10 year plans which are currently being prepared by social services departments in consultation with other statutory authorities and representatives of mentally handicapped people. The intention is that these plans should include the future role and provision of hospital services.
