Mr. Ralph Howell

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will set out the nature of the statistics relevant to the planning and control of medical manpower collected by his Department, indicating which of these are used to ensure a sufficient supply of trained doctors and nurses to meet the demand in the National Health Service.

The statistics which may be relevant to planning or control of manpower include virtually all those collected by our Department and many from other sources.
