§ Mr. ScottProvisional figures for 1983–84 indicate that there should be sufficent grammar school places in the area to accommodate those pupils who have obtained a grade "A" in the transfer procedure and whose parents wish them to attend a grammar school in the area; it may not however always be possible to obtain a place in the first choice grammar school. While those pupils graded "M" in the transfer procedure are not guaranteed a place, the provisional figures indicate that it should be possible to accommodate a large number of them in the grammar schools in the area.
§ Mr. Clifford Forsytheasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he is satisfied that the provision of grammar school places in the area of the Antrim, South constituency is sufficient to permit proper parental choice for all suitable pupils.
§ Mr. ScottProvisional figures for 1983–84 indicate that there should be sufficient places in the area for those pupils who have obtained a grade "A" in the transfer procedure and whose parents wish them to attend a grammar school in the area; it may not however always be possible to obtain a place in the first choice grammar school. While those pupils graded "M" in the transfer procedure are not guaranteed a place, the provisional figures indicate that it should be possible to accommodate a large number of them in the grammar schools in the South Antrim area.
§ Mr. Beggsasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will list the initial intake quota to grammar schools in Northern Ireland and the final intake of non-fee paying pupils in respect of each grammar school.
§ Mr. ScottThe provisional intake quota of day pupils for admission to all grammar schools in Northern Ireland in September 1984 is 7,285; not all intake quotas for individual schools have been settled. The final intake will not be known until September 1984.
§ Mr. Beggsasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) if he will list the number of fee-paying pupils at each grammar school in Northern Ireland in each of the last three school years;
(2) if he will list the rates of fees payable in preparatory departments and post primary departments for day pupils in Northern Ireland grammar schools.
