Mr. Corrie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many young people are currently employed by community industry in Scotland; and how these figures compare with the numbers so employed in 1981 and 1979.

Mr. Younger

On 8 March 1984, the latest date for which information is available, there were 1,508 young people employed in community industry in Scotland. The comparable figures for March 1981 and March 1979 were 1,468 and 1,081 respectively.
