§ Mr. Simsasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what representations Her Majesty's Government have made to the Greek Government about recent price-profit margin controls and related measures imposed on imported alcoholic beverages.
§ Mr. ChannonThe Government are making clear to the Greek Government our strong concern at these measures, which appear to be a clear restriction on trade and to be contrary to the EC Treaty. We understand that the Commission is investigating the position urgently with a view possibly to accelerating infraction proceedings.
