HC Deb 12 April 1984 vol 58 cc302-3W
Mr. Parry

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will publish in the Official Report a table showing the statutory minimum rate for a full week in each wages council industry for the years 1982 and 1983 and the latest information for 1984.

Mr. Butler

It is not practicable to publish the information in the form requested by the hon. Member, as some wages councils set separate minimum rates for a number of categories of workers. The minimum rates are set out in full in the wages orders made by the wages councils. I shall arrange for copies of all the relevant orders to be sent to the hon. Member.

Mr. Parry

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what was the statutory daily attendance fee applicable to members of wages councils for the years 1982 and 1983 and the latest information for 1984.

Mr. Butler

The independent members of wages councils are paid fees for attending council meetings according to the scale set out as follows. Members appointed to represent employers and workers are not paid fees, but are able to claim limited compensation for actual loss of earnings connected with attendance at meetings.

Mr. Parry

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether he will list for each wages council the number of employees affected and the number of establishments covered.

Mr. Butler
