§ Mr. Wyn RobertsUnder the Housing Acts it is the duty of local authorities to ensure that dwellings, including those in multiple accommodation, are fit for human habitation. They have wide powers to ensure that houses in multiple occupation are properly maintained, repaired, clean and not overcrowded. Information is not collected centrally on the number of inspections made or on the amount of accommodation not up to standard.
