§ Mr. WaldegraveThe Nuclear Industry Radioactive Waste Executive is responsible for developing disposal facilities and identifying sites potentially suitable for that purpose; and paragraphs 5.9–16 of the fourth annual report of the Radioactive Waste Management Advisory Committee were a summary of aspects of its work. Two sites have been announced.
The extent to which the developer of a disposal facility will be required to identify alternative sites was one of the matters covered in the draft principles for assessing such facilities published as a consultation document in October 1983. A number of comments have been received on the draft principles. These are being considered before a definitive version is published.
