HL Deb 12 April 1984 vol 450 c1321WA
Lord Stoddart of Swindon

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have estimated the likely increase in demand if electricity prices were reduced in line with the Coopers and Lybrand report.

The Earl of Avon

Cooper and Lybrand's report on the Central Electricity Generating Board's Bulk Supply Tariff made a number of recommendations about the way in which the tariff should be calculated. The effect of these recommendations was not quantified but they have contributed to the subsequent development of pricing policy which has involved a fall in the real level of electricity prices by about 8 per cent. since the report was produced in July 1982.
