§ Mr. Alan ClarkEmployers of over 20 people are subject to the statutory requirements of the quota scheme, and workers employed on training schemes must be364W included in the employer's work force for the purpose of determining the employer's quota. However, Government training schemes, including the youth training scheme, are not in themselves subject to the 3 per cent. statutory disablement quota.
§ Mr. Carter-Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) if there are any funds available for work in the area of training disabled people in the use of numerically controlled machines and computer-aided design equipment; and if he will make a statement;
(2) if there are any training centres for the disabled in the specific area of machinists and draughtsmen using numerically controlled machines and computer-aided design equipment; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Alan Clark[pursuant to his reply]Disabled people are able to take advantage of skillcentre training under the training opportunities scheme and substantial funds have been made available to equip skillcentres with numerically controlled machines and computer-aided design equipment. The Manpower Services Commission also supports training for machinists using numerically controlled machines and draughtsmen using computer-aided design equipment at certain residential training colleges for severely disabled people.
