HC Deb 12 April 1984 vol 58 c305W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if, following recent cuts in expenditure, he is satisfied that air traffic control and air safety is maintained at the highest standard.

Mr. David Mitchell

There is no evidence to suggest there has been any reduction in the effectiveness of air traffic control services or the various other measures which are taken to maintain a high level of air safety. The costs of both the national air traffic services and the regulatory services of the Civil Aviation Authority are recovered from user charges and are not part of public expenditure.
