§ Mr. Kenneth BakerThe Alvey directorate has been created to implement the recommendations of the Alvey committee and is staffed jointly by the three Government Departments involved and by industry. Detailed strategies have been published for three of the four enabling technologies, and over 200 applications for support have been received. The first major contract was announced last week.
