HC Deb 10 April 1984 vol 58 c206W
Mr. Straw

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on the circumstances in which Mrs. Doris Grant's appointment as chairman of the Blackburn Hyndburn and Ribble valley district health authority was not renewed.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

Mrs. Grant's term of office ended on 31 March 1984. She is succeeded by Mr. Ian Woolley.

Mrs. Grant, who is now 59 years of age, has made a very valuable contribution to the National Health Service, guiding the new Blackburn, Hyndburn and Ribble valley health authority through its crucial first two years and securing improvements in children's services in the district through the development of Queen's park hospital in Blackburn on which work is planned to start shortly.
