asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list the industry sectors which had statutory industry training boards (a) at the latest available date and (b) in 1979.

Mr. Peter Morrison

Statutory training boards exist in the following sectors of industry:

  • Agriculture
  • Clothing and Allied Products
  • Construction
  • Engineering
  • Hotel and Catering
  • Offshore Petroleum
  • Plastics Processing
  • Road Transport

In 1979, statutory boards covered the following sectors:

  • Agriculture
  • Air Transport and Travel
  • Carpet

Mr. Barnett

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many places there were on the carpentry course at the Deptford skillcentre in 1982, 1983 and 1984.

Mr. Peter Morrison

In 1982–83 and 1983–84 two carpentry and joinery classes were in operation at Deptford skillcentre providing 28 training places. One 14-place class is planned for 1984–85.
