HL Deb 10 April 1984 vol 450 c1142WA
Baroness David

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What conclusions they have reached on the recommendations in the review, The Legal Basis of Further Education.

The Earl of Swinton

After careful consideration of the recommendations in the review,The Legal Basis of Further Education, and taking account of other measures now in hand to promote efficiency and effectiveness in further education, the Government have decided not to introduce new legislation on further education at present. It remains open to any local education authority which considers that its scheme of further education made under Section 42 of the Education Act 1944 is unsatisfactory to propose modifications for approval by my right honourable friend the Secretary of State for Education and Science.
