Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will now make an estimate of the number of dairy farmers who will be put out of business as a direct result of the new milk production quotas agreed by the Council of Agriculture Ministers in Brussels.

Mr. MacGregor

It is not realistic to attempt to establish the detailed impact of the supplementary levy system on dairy farmers. There are so many different individual situations and producers will respond to its impact in various different ways.
