§ Mr. Norman Atkinsonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will examine the analytical benefits of establishing a unit capital costs index alongside the current unit labour costs index in respect of manufacturing industry; and if he will initiate discussions as to how the current monthly returns submitted by industry could best be modified to accommodate this change.
§ Mr. Peter ReesI do not consider that the cost of attempting to obtain the necessary information to construct such an index on agreed concepts and definitions would be justified by it value.
