§ Mr. Hanleyasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will give an assurance that the list of names and addresses of those individuals authorised by him as statutory auditors will be brought fully up to date in advance of any enabling legislation to implement the EEC eighth directive.
§ Mr. Alexander FletcherI see no reason to ask Parliament to pass a Bill conferring the necessary powers when the public is already able to ascertain, as article 28(1) of the eighth directive intends, whether or not an individual is qualified to act as auditor.
