HC Deb 09 April 1984 vol 58 c74W
Mr. Peter Bruinvels

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what support Her Majesty's Government are giving the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Mr. Macfarlane

British participation in the Olympic Games is organised by the British Olympic Association and funded through the Olympic appeal. Assistance for sport is channelled through the Sports Council which has offered the British Olympic Association up to £60,000 towards the teams travel costs to Sarajevo and to Los Angeles. The Olympic team also benefits more generally from the various grants which the Sports Council makes to individual governing bodies towards their international training and preparation costs.
