HC Deb 09 April 1984 vol 58 cc66-72W
Mr. Pike

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the percentage change of each non-metropolitan district in (a) cash expenditure terms and (b) expenditure in constant prices for each year since 1978–79.

Mr. Waldegrave

The table gives the percentage increase in cash terms in net current expenditure for non-metropolitan districts between

  • 1978–79 and 1981–82
  • 1981–82 and 1982–83
  • 1982–83 and budgets for 1983–84.

Current expenditure figures for individual authorities for 1979–80 and 1980–81, are not readily available. The changes may be expressed in constant prices by using the GDP deflator.

  • 1978–79 to 1981–82 1.524
  • 1981–82 to 1982–83 1.066
  • 1982–83 to 1983–84 1.055
